What is Raumeu?

Raumeu is a fictional nation I made up in 2022. It takes place in a world of cats and dogs. I mainly focus on the political and civic aspects of Raumeu. Raumeu is a large island about the size of Texas with individual states and looks like this

In Raumeu, cats have been the dominant group over the native inhabitants of dogs. Due to their power the cats discriminated against the dogs. In the past The cats made servents out of the dogs, and made the dogs live in designated areas (example, Northwestern Raumeu (Rufo)), however the cats have also moderated in the last 50 years, and now most cats treat dogs equally.

Like I said previously the thing I focus on about Raumeu is the politics. for example the current leader is Poppy! She was elected in 2022 and I the first prime minister after the Queen, Ginger aggred to become a ceremonial monarch. Poppy was re-elected in 2024. She is of the Libaral party.

This is Poppy, the prime minister of Raumeu having served in office since 2022, Poppy has gained some controversy. She has criticism on both the left and right in Raumeu. the long version of the story is that the Progressives, the 3rd party in Raumeu, are upset about how poppy isn't acting quick enough on issues facing the nation. Such as reprimands for dogs who had to suffer under the specism of the past. Most of the right's criticism towards her stems from the fact that she is to liberal on issues such as fishing rights. Fishing is a popular pastime in the states North Magoria and Salor. The commercial fishing industry has become widly exploitative in recent years, causing major backlash on the left who would like to protect the Raumeuan marine life. The right in response, is trying to protect the fishing industry. Therefore they take offense to Poppy putting limits on how much commpanies are aloud to fish. Currently Poppys main political rival is Scrachy, who lost the 2024 election to her. He plans to try again in 2026, but he is faced with fellow conservative candidate Pep a dog who is more moderate then Scrachy, dispite Scracy being considered quite moderate himself. However Poppy is a well liked figure for moderates and liberals in Raumeu. Mainly pepole who support Poppy like to bring up her decision to give Rufo specal governing rights, (like Quebec, Canada) in 2023, TLDR. Poppy is disliked by both the far left and by the right, however, she is liked by moderates and the center left.
